Dog Food Recipes With Oatmeal
Lhasa apso home cooked food recipe?
I am looking for a legitimate recipe for my Lhasa apso, she is 6 months old. I have read Lhasa apsos can be very picky easters, and my girl is! I started her on “Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites Puppy Chicken Meal, Rice & Oatmeal Formula Dry Dog Food”, as that is what she was being fed when I got her. I tried wet food and that upset her tummy. I have been feeding her a 50-50 combo of the same dry food mentioned above and “Beneful Healthy Growth” that I pour warm chicken stock on. I do the food 20 minutes down thing and take it up if she does not eat, but then she gets cranky. She will eat treats all day, and I restrict treats to a few a day. My vet says she is a healthy weight (12.3 pounds) and is in great condition (I walk her twice a day and she loves to play fetch!). He has said to add a little bit of shredded cheese to her food. Or I can cook her food. I want to try to cook her food, I want her to be happy with what she is eating, and I bet it is a lot healthier, too.
Even before the dog food poisoning scare, my honey always wanted us to fix the dogs home-cooked food. They love a mixture of rice and hamburger, or rice and chicken, and add vegetables too, like green beans, spinach or other green stuff and chopped up carrots cooked with the meat/rice. to get balanced nutrition, like us, try to give them a good variety. Don’t, however, give them raisins or grapes, nor chocolate. Those are poisonous to dogs.
