Dog Food Containers
Best way to individually store home made dog food?
I’ve been making some wonderful home made dog food and would like to give my friends some for their dogs. How should I individually package it? I have been storing mine in small tupperware containers with enough food for one day in each. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks! *-*
I think that the way you are packaging is very thoughtful and kind! How fun that they receive two gifts in one.
I would ask them to be sure to save the containers and give them back so that you can make some more for them or reuse the containers.
Is the food dry or soft?
Do they need to defrost the food? If so, be sure that they are using the microwavable Tupperware products.
Tupperware sells snack cups which you can buy in packs of 10 for very little cost. I would buy up as many as you can and use them.
If you didn’t want to ask for the containers back, I would be sure to put a note in their bag letting them know that they are reusable.
If you are not a ‘green’ person, you could make individual portions and place them in small bags which seal up air tight. This way they can just dump into a bowl and toss the bags.
I’m guessing that the food is probably used immediately.
If this is the case and it has a good shelf life in the fridge, you might consider putting the food in one large container and let them scoop out how much they need daily.
This will save you $$ AND will give them something to reuse often.
Without more information, that’s about all I can suggest.
